Well, this is quite an experience. My adult children can't believe their mother is learning to blog. As of now I'm not quite sure if I will be successful on my first try. I'm concerned about the photo going through. I work at Albertus in the Registrar's office and have developed an interest in photography. What better way to spend the winter months than trying to learn something new. From my self portrait you may be able to surmise that I enjoy exercising outdoors even during the winter. The picture was taken around 7am returning from my walk on the sidewalks of New Haven. (no flash per instructions)

Hi Eileen... Good for you to be out walking before dawn!
No flash is still much better than flash even here... Now we can use image editing software to tune the underexposed image up... Picasa2 could do a good job here. Adjust the highlights and midtones using the sliders.
Welcome to our humble online community!
I find that when shooting in low light (or high light) conditions, it is almost always best to shoot with the source of light not facing the camera; but as jerry says, Picasa2 can help you fix the image--the magic of digital photography.
yes, I adjusted with the fill light and it is much better. thanks.
