I found doing portraits more interesting but I was not pleased with most of my shots. I THINK I WANT A BETTER CAMERA.

Wanting a better camera must mean that you really like photography and want to do more! Good job on the portrait... One tip, try to move your right shoulder close to the wall the window is on and turn your subject's face into the light... That will help keep you from shooting into the light.
